Happy Tuesday! The showcase photo this week has been one of my all time favorite projects and dates back to when I was in the 8th grade. It is a "wax resist" which is basically crayons and watercolor. It exemplifies the basic concept of how oil and water don't mix. I used day-glo crayons as well as regular box crayons, organic shapes as well as geometrics. The watercolor paint filled in any part of the paper that wasn't covered with the wax of the crayons. My teacher submitted this piece to the South Florida Fair and fortunately for me, I won a blue ribbon, 1st place award!! I got $100 for me, and also won $100 for my school! After the fair was over, my parents had it matted and framed, and it has been on their wall ever since!
